Staff Recognition Program
On Wednesday, May 5, the Weston Public Schools held its Staff Recognition Program, this year an ice cream social. The program, which has been an annual event for the past 10 years, acknowledges staff members who have given many years of service to the district and pays special tribute to those who will be retiring at the end of this school year (or who have retired since last summer). The Faculty/Staff Gospel Choir, formed this year as a professional development opportunity, provided entertainment to open the program. Acknowledged for retiring this year were Phyllis Hirsch, Woodland School Grade 1 Teacher; Kathy Kiely, Woodland School Grade 2 Teacher; Mary LaRocca, Woodland School Cafeteria General Helper; Marsha Malone, Middle School English Teacher; Betty Millen, Transportation Department Administrative Assistant; Cliff O’Connor, High School Business Education Teacher; Beth Pendery, Country School Grade 3 Teacher; Janis Quinn, Woodland School Grade 2/3 Aide; Carol Repose, Field School Grade 5 Teacher; Nancy Richardson, Field School Library Paraprofessional; Stephen Shaw, Country School Principal; Chris Thurston, Early Childhood Coordinator; and Nancy Yellin, High School Special Education Teacher.
Staff honored for ten years of service to the district were Kathy Becker, Kristy Branham, Lewis Brooks, Elaine Caramanica, Susan Carey, Janet Cinar,, Susan Cohen, Kim Concannon, Rosemary Conway, Sixto Delgado, Mary Gallagher, Laura Galopim, Lucy Gonzalez, Lia Hansen, Theresa Kacoyanis, Margaret Kauffmann, Sharon Kerns , Peter Kidwell, Boris Korsunsky, Heather Lambo, Mary LaRocca, Paula Lianos, Michael Mahoney, Jason McCarthy, Jessica McKinney, Jim McLaughlin, Ed McLoughlin, Valarie Molyneaux, Kristin Morrison, James Murphy, Lisa Nardone , Cynthia Neal, Theresa Nolan, David Poras, Janis Quinn, Sheila Robinson, Paula Rozantes, Jennifer Rudolph, Dyanne Sainato, Jody Salisbury, Rebecca Scott, Liliana Smith, Beth Stebe, Monisha Tasker, Janet Weinstein, Regina Wong, Kari Ann Wye, and Joan Younger.
Staff members honored for 15 years of service were Margaret Burns, Barbara Crouss, Joanne Crowell, Debra Dunn, Patty Ferguson, Robert Lager, Robert Lang, Richard Leger, Mary Lou McDonough, Donna Nagle, Therese Provenzano, Mary Louise Rees, Carol Schopfer, Michelle Scott, Diane Sears, Joanne Simon, and Janis Townsend.
Staff who have served the district for 20 years received an engraved brass paperweight acknowledging the service. Those employed in the schools for 20 years include Roger Archambault, Rachel Bau, Kate Brewer, Carol Hoff, Dave McGean, and Debra Wheelwright.
The Weston PTO presented engraved silver bowls to staff members who have served 25 years: Margaret Allard, Janet Bohlin, David Fuller, Phyllis Hirsch, Cheryl Maloney, Janet McGrath, and Joey Wechsler.
One staff member, James McAlear, who serves as Maintenance Specialist, was honored for his 35 years with the Weston Public Schools.
