I am pleased to announce the selection of Lauren Collins as the next METCO Director of the Weston Public Schools. Ms. Collins will begin her new position at the beginning of the 2012-13 school year..
My decision to recommend Ms. Collins resulted from a comprehensive search process involving representatives from all constituencies in our school community. I want to thank everyone for the feedback along the way and the great interest in the selection process. Along with reference checks, your feedback has been an important factor in my appointment.
Ms. Collins is currently the Community Connector at the Percy L. Julian High School in Chicago, Illinois. Previously, she was Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, Family Development Department, Associated Early Care and Education, Boston, Massachusetts, 2007-2008; Teacher, Roxbury-Weston Preschool, Roxbury-Weston Programs, Inc., Boston, 2006-2007; Adjustment Counselor, Lucy Stone Elementary School, Dorchester, 2006-2007; and Business Management Associate, General Mills, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio, 2004-2006. Ms. Collins earned a Master of Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2007. Her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies, was earned in 2004 from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
I feel very fortunate to have found such an exceptional educational leader for the Weston Public Schools, and I know you will join me in welcoming her to our community.
