On April 17, the NAMM Foundation announced the results of its 13th annual Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) survey, which acknowledges schools and districts across the U.S. for their commitment to and support for music education in schools. In all, 176 communities were recognized, including 166 school districts and 10 schools.
What is the Best Communities for Music Education program?
The survey asks detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and other relevant factors about their communities' music education programs. The responses are verified with district officials, and advisory organizations review the data. Throughout the survey's history, many districts have reported that making the "Best Communities" list has had a positive effect on their ability to preserve music for their students amid budget cuts in arts programs.
The NAMM Foundation is proud to announce the results for the 13th annual Best Communities for Music Education survey. Read the complete roster of districts. Thank you to all who participated.
