Committee to Review School Hours

Committee to Review School Hours

On July 18 the committee to review school hours met for the second time. Formed last spring to address concerns about the early starting time at the high school, the committee, co-chaired by Superintendent Cheryl Maloney and parent Dr. Suzanne Nash, has reviewed research on adolescent sleep needs, state requirements for secondary school hours and schedules in other communities. A sub-committee lead by Assistant Principal Erica Cole is exploring adaptations of the current high school schedule that would allow for a later start with the same close of school hours. Another committee lead by Principal Matt Lucey will be looking into what any changes to the high school starting time might mean for the Middle and Elementary schools. The committee will meet on August 1 and anticipates holding a public meeting in September to discuss its findings.

The members of the committee are listed below. If you have any questions, please contact Superintendent Cheryl Maloney.
