The 2017 NAfME Eastern Division Conference in Atlantic City, NJ (April 5-8, 2017) features a Young Composer Concert, followed by a session titled Young Composer Forum. Teachers and students in NAfME Eastern Division states were invited to submit original compositions by students for possible inclusion in the concert. Students in elementary school, secondary school, college, and full-time graduate students were all eligible to submit compositions. Compositions were judged based on 3 criteria: Compositional Technique, Overall Musical Appeal, and Originality. A panel of composers adjudicated the compositions and selected Kendrick Kirby-Lee’s composition, Wind and Water as one of the pieces to be performed at the Young Composer Concert at the Eastern Division Conference.
