Third Grade Orchestra
Beginning in the fall, each student in 3rd grade at both Woodland and Country School will have the opportunity to join string orchestra. In addition to learning music, students will gain high self-esteem, learn self-discipline, problem solving, goal-setting, and the importance of teamwork; all skills needed in life beyond elementary school. We highly encourage all students to take advantage of this incredible opportunity.
String orchestra students will meet for one half-hour class within the school day, as well as one after-school rehearsal each week. Below are the designated rehearsal days for your planning purposes. We look forward to welcoming many of you to our Weston music community
!In- School String Classes:
Woodland School: Tuesday
Country School: Friday
Country School: Wednesdays from 2:20 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Woodland School: Thursdays from 2:20 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
In order to participate in orchestra, your child will need to rent an instrument. You will be able to rent an instrument from Johnson Strings that night if you wish. I will be measuring all students in their first class for appropriate sizing.
If you have any questions regarding your child's participation in Orchestra, please feel free Mrs. MacDonald. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
After School Sports
After School Sports is a program offered to all third grade students each Monday from 2:20 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. Children may attend whenever they choose. They must bring a note from home each week. Students will have free choice time followed by a whole group game, such as kickball, dodgeball, sideline soccer or capture the flag. Students have a lot of fun and get some great exercise too! Please contact Amy Chartier with any questions.
Third Grade Chorus
Chorus is for all third graders interested in an after-school non-auditioned singing group. Chorus meets from January through May on Tuesdays from 2:20 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The chorus participates in the March Weston Spring Sing and a May in-school concert. All third graders are encouraged to give this a try!
