The Laramie Project Discussion
November 17-19, 2011
The WHS Theater Department presented The Laramie Project by playwright and Tectonic Theater founder Moises Kaufman
Before the opening performance the WHS Gay Straight Alliance invited students and parents for an informal discussion about the sensitive issues addressed in the play.
The Laramie Project is a sweeping presentation of a community and a nation at a crossroads in dealing with questions of sexual orientation, class, gender, religious diversity, violence and the limits of free expression. In a time where there is increased attention being given to the bullying and victimization of sexual minority youth, the production promises to be a timely investigation into issues that still affect us, 13 years after the tragedy surrounding Matthew Shepard.
