2014 Summer Program

METCO Students ”S.O.A.R.” into the New School Year

Weston METCO high school students may attend a summer review program to prepare for the upcoming academic year. The review session is a week long and covers  English, History, Geometry and Physics.  The goal is to get students in grades 9-12 prepared for expectations in CP and honors level courses.  The review sessions are taught by Weston High faculty.  This is a week of hard work for the students who choose to come back early and get a jump on their courses.

In addition, Field and Middle School METCO students may participate in S.O.A.R. (Summer Opportunities in Academics and Recreation) during their summer vacation.  The students in grades 4-8  participate in a 2-week review session during the last two weeks of August. Topics offered in the  program cover math, reading/writing (ELA), student skills (e.g. organization and motivation) and social skills (e.g. relationships with teachers and peers).   There is also a recreation component.

Weston faculty members teach the sessions along with tutors.  And of course METCO bus driver Lucy Gonzalez helps make this early preparation session a success.
