Gulf Coast Service Trip

GULF COAST SERVICE TRIP

Thursday Feb.14 – 21, 2013

Last chance is Friday, October 12, 2012

Doc Prov has 25 students heading to the Gulf Coast during February break to help re-store the community and land in the continued devastation of Hurricane Katrina.  She can accept a few more if you let her know by October 12.

Last winter break students had a very successful week in Biloxi.  This year, we will be heading to the heart of the Gulf – New Orleans, to build, work with families, schools, community centers, and planting of bayous and wetlands.

Help those in our own country whose homes and lives have been uprooted by a natural disaster. This trip will be extremely inspiring and a great learning experience, combined with lots of physical work.

The total cost for this full 8 days is approx. $1400.  This includes ALL necessary costs for the week  - flight, room, meals and transportation. We will be staying at Camp Restore – a group that runs the workweek and supervises our group in the area.

You MUST be 15 years of age at the time of travel.

If you are interested or have questions about the week, you can pick up a form from Doc Prov, email her or call 781-786-5976.

Join us next Spring in Louisiana!

“…working in the Gulf has made me appreciate what I have and given me the chance to give back, even in the smallest way to those less fortunate and trying to re-build their lives.”

---Jacqueline Mone

“We not only worked in the communities, but had the chance to experience the music, food and culture of a different and exciting city. It was one of the best experiences I have had and I hope to return to the area in the future!!”

---Nadia Hassan

Students help rebuild New Orleans

More than twenty students spent their February 2011 break in New Orleans helping to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.  Principal Anthony Parker awarded them with the "Caught Doing Good" award for their outstanding contributions to the clean up effort.
