Student Body Co- Presidents:

• Represent the Weston High School student body when appropriate
• Conduct and chair weekly Student Council meetings
• Set agenda for Student Council meetings
• Attend monthly School Committee breakfast meetings
• Supervise the election of the following year’s student officers
• Conduct monthly all – school assemblies
• Attend weekly meetings with the Principal to assure that Principles decisions reflect student body desires

Student Body Co-Emcees:

• Attends weekly Student Council meetings
• Conducts and chairs monthly assembly meetings
• Sets agenda for monthly assemblies
• Assists in the election of the following year’s Co-Emcees
• Meets with the Director of Student Activities as well as the Student Council Advisor as necessary

Student Council Representatives (five from each class):
• Represent their class at weekly Student Council meetings
• ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY (upon absence from third meeting, members may be impeached, student council members will have final decision.)
• Assist the class officers at class functions when appropriate
• Report Student Council news and activities to their class-at least one representative should be present at each class officers meeting
• Share responsibilities for Council activities
• Plan and organize school wide events

Student Council Secretary:

• Record student council meeting minutes
• Post minutes on Student Activities web site
• Email minutes of Student Council meetings to members
• Send reminders regarding meetings and events out to Student Council members
• Send notices to school on behalf of Student Council through List Serve
• Take attendance at Student Council meetings

Student Council Treasurer:

• In charge of Student Council funds and bank account
• Presents a financial report at each Student Council meeting
• Keep track of money records, present and past
• Research and present options of spending for events, etc.

Powers and Responsibilities of Principal’s Councils

Student Members of the Weston High School Council-Two year term (three):


• Represents the student body at monthly meetings with the Principal, faculty representatives, parent representatives, and other student representatives
• Assist the Principal in reviewing the school budget and developing a yearly school improvement plan
• Councils may also assist in policy making and identifying educational needs of the students
• School council is responsible for reporting to the School Committee for approval of all decisions


*School Council student members are appointed by the Principal

 

 

Student Members of the Weston High School Principal’s Advisory Council

Two year term (three):

• Represents the student body at monthly meetings with the Principal, faculty representatives, and other student representatives
• Reviews/addresses recommendations from the NEASC report
• Develops faculty meeting agendas
• Assists in finding solutions to management challenges
• Responds to student and faculty school-wide concerns
• Assists in the development of short and long-term goals in support of the School’s Improvement Plan


*Principal’s Advisory Council student members are appointed by the Principal

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities of State-Level Representatives:

• Regional SAC Representatives (two): *Elections second week in April
• Represents the student body at monthly regional Student Advisory Council meetings
• Attend monthly School Committee breakfast meetings
• Meet with the Student Council weekly as a voting member
• Posts minutes of the Regional SAC meetings on the Student Activities web site
• Report School Committee minutes to the Student Council
• Attend evening School Committee meetings when appropriate
• Read all School committee agenda and minutes, which are available on the Student Activities web site
